Designed for Practical Learning and Exploration

This intensive four-week course starts with a welcoming dinner on the Saturday evening before classes begin. Each week is dedicated to a specific module, offering students the chance to dive deep into different aspects of tropical architecture.

Classes are a mix of theory and hands-on learning. Mondays and Tuesdays focus on lectures at the IDB Bali campus, while Wednesdays and Thursdays are set aside for excursions and workshops. Some Fridays are also used for activities.

Alongside the modules, students will work on a studio project focused on resort and hospitality design, applying their knowledge each week. The course ends with a project presentation and a festive graduation ceremony, where students receive their certificates.

The course consists of four core modules and one studio project, leading to a total of 12 ECTS credits. These credits reflect the workload of an intensive short course and can be transferred to most international credit systems.

Balinese Landscape and Architecture

Bali Resort and Hospitality Design

Which visa do I need for the program?

You will require a C9 Study Visa, which will be applied for by the university on your behalf. We will guide you through the process to ensure a smooth application.

Is accommodation included in the program fee?

Accommodation is not included in the course fee. However, we have rooms reserved for students in our student villas during the summer school, which can be booked through our partner.

How much should I budget for living expenses in Bali?

Living expenses in Bali are generally affordable. On average, you can budget around $500–$800 USD per month for housing, meals, and transport, depending on your lifestyle.

Do I need to know Indonesian to participate in the program?

No, all classes are taught in English, and no prior knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is required. However, you’ll have opportunities to learn basic Indonesian language skills.

What kind of health insurance do I need?

You are required to have travel or health insurance that covers you for the entire duration of your stay in Indonesia, including medical care and emergency evacuation.

Can I work while studying in Bali?

No, the C9 Study Visa does not allow students to work during their stay. The focus is on education and cultural activities.

What kind of transportation is available in Bali?

Bali doesn’t have extensive public transportation, but getting around is easy with apps like Grab or Gojek. Many students also rent scooters for affordable and convenient travel around the island.

What is the weather like in Bali?

Bali enjoys a tropical climate year-round. The dry season runs from April to October, offering sunny and warm weather, while the wet season, from October to March, brings occasional rain but also lush, green landscapes—perfect for exploring Bali’s vibrant culture and nature in any season.
