No black box between you and an answer. Five real steps between the day you apply and the day you land in Bali, and the same team on the other end of every one of them.
-
Day 0 · 5 minutes
You apply You
A short application: your program and intake, and a few sentences on what brings you here. Not an exam, a conversation starter. The registration fee reserves your seat and locks the current price phase, and it is refundable when you cancel more than 8 weeks before your intake.
Start the application → -
Same day
A real person reads it The SIB team
Your words land with the StudyInBali team, not a scoring algorithm. We read what you wrote, check the program fits, and reply to you by name. If something is unclear, we simply ask.
-
By the next working day
A personal decision The SIB team
A confirmation email with your program package, a clear payment plan, and your visa checklist, usually by the next working day. The remainder of the fee is due at the latest 8 weeks before your program starts. No hidden fees.
-
8 to 10 weeks before
The visa gets arranged Your university
Your host institution sponsors the student visa and applies on your behalf with its visa agency, an E30 or a C9 depending on your program. You send passport scans and a photo, the paperwork is carried before you fly. Every SIB student enters on a student visa, never a tourist visa or visa on arrival, short courses included.

Day one
You fly Bali
Airport pickup if you want it, a welcome dinner with your cohort, orientation on campus. Your roommates are already in your WhatsApp before you board. Only book flights once your spot is confirmed, the confirmation email tells you exactly when.
Behind every step is one email thread with one team, from your first question to your last day in Bali. If you would rather talk it through first, WhatsApp answers usually come the same day.
Have these ready to apply
- +Your program and intake. Which course, which start date.
- +A passport scan and a photo, later. Needed for the visa, not to apply, so nothing to prepare yet, a phone photo will do when the time comes.
- +The registration fee. €350, reserves your seat and locks the current price phase, refundable when you cancel more than 8 weeks before intake, minus a €100 processing fee. Full tuition breakdown →
- +Applying for a national grant? Start it the day your seat is confirmed. We supply the certificate of acceptance and the program description your funding office asks for. Funding routes →

Funding.
A semester in Bali is fundable, and the biggest levers are open to everyone: an early price phase, a payment plan at no extra fee, part of the fee back as an Ambassador. Depending on where you are from, a national grant can cover a meaningful share on top.
Price phases
Each intake moves through three set phases, Early Bird, Regular and Late, and the fee is fixed by the phase on the day you register. Where an intake opens with a VIP window, that window comes before Early Bird.
Payment plans
You do not have to pay tuition in one piece. Between confirmation and the 8-week deadline, the remainder can be split into two or three steps at no extra fee. Register early and that window spans several months.
Ambassador role
Roughly five incoming students per intake are selected for the Ambassador role, decided once your intake's deadline closes. You pay the normal fee like everyone else, and part or all of it is paid back afterwards, once the work is actually done.
How the role works →National grants & home-university funding
Many students fund part of the semester through national grants or their home university’s international office; we provide every document they ask for.
+Germany · Auslands-BAföG
Our German students regularly receive Auslands-BAföG for the semester programs, and it can cover a meaningful share of the cost. We provide the certificate of acceptance and the program description your BAföG office asks for. Start the application the day your seat is confirmed, processing takes months. Many German universities also award PROMOS scholarships, DAAD funding for self-organised semesters outside Europe, through their own International Office. Deadlines differ by university, so ask yours early.
+Austria · Studienbeihilfe & Auslandsbeihilfe
Austrian students who receive Studienbeihilfe at home can apply for Auslandsbeihilfe on top for study abroad, from the third Bachelor semester onwards. The Studienbeihilfenbehörde decides the details. Ask before you register, and we provide the program description and credit information they ask for.
+Norway & Sweden · Lånekassen and CSN
Norway’s Lånekassen funds full-time partial studies abroad, and Sweden’s CSN gives grants and loans for studies outside Sweden, including support towards tuition. Both decide case by case, so ask them early; we supply every document the assessment asks for.
+Netherlands · Studiefinanciering
Dutch students who stay enrolled at home usually keep their studiefinanciering during a temporary semester abroad that counts towards their Dutch degree. DUO’s rules for studying abroad apply. Clarify the credits with your exam board first; we provide the module descriptions.
+Australia · OS-HELP
Australian students in a Commonwealth supported place can apply for an OS-HELP loan to study part of their course overseas, with a higher loan limit for study in Asia. Your own university administers it. Ask your study-abroad office early, and we provide the program description and credit details they ask for.
+United States · Federal aid via your university
US federal student aid can sometimes travel with you, but only through your home university: the aid office processes it when the semester is approved for credit towards your degree. Whether that works depends on their rules, so ask your financial aid office first; we supply every document the review asks for.
What we hand you for your funding office: a certificate of acceptance and a program description with dates, credits and content. What we cannot do is fill in the form for you, or promise a figure the office alone decides. Start the application as soon as your seat is confirmed, months ahead of your intake.
The
visa.
Simpler than most people expect, because the university carries it with you. One rule without exception: every StudyInBali student enters on a student visa, never a tourist visa or visa on arrival, for short courses too.
The student visa for programs at Udayana University: Sports & Physiotherapy, Southeast Asian Architecture and Southeast Asian Engineering. Multi-entry, so you can leave and re-enter Indonesia during the semester. Issued for the semester duration, with roughly two weeks of buffer before and after.
The standard student visa for programs at IDB Bali and PIB College, including the short courses. Stay extendable up to 180 days, a fully digital application with no embassy visit. Single-entry: if you leave Indonesia it expires. Prefer to travel in and out? E30 is available on request.
If plans
change.
Committing early should never mean being trapped. Cancel more than 8 weeks out and the tuition comes back in full. Closer in, the window narrows, and here is exactly how.
Cancel in writing more than 8 weeks before your program starts and every euro of tuition you have paid is refunded in full, plus €250 of the registration fee. Only the €100 processing fee is kept. So you can secure your seat and lock the current price phase now, and still have room to step back if life interferes.
If you would rather move to a later intake than cancel, say so. We would sooner find you a place than lose you. Send us one message and we will check what is open.
