The Southeast Asian Engineering Program is a 15-week immersive course hosted by Universitas Udayana in Bali, Indonesia. Designed to tackle the unique engineering challenges of Southeast Asia, this program trains students in skills essential for tropical environments—such as earthquake-resistant construction, sustainable urban transportation, and renewable energy solutions. Indonesia’s location along the Pacific Ring of Fire adds another layer of complexity, demanding specialized approaches to design and infrastructure.

This 15-week course is designed to deliver an immersive learning experience equivalent to a full university semester, covering essential topics in tropical engineering and sustainable practices.

Eight Modules,Two Specializations

Choose a focus in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, with specialized modules in earthquake-resistant design, renewable energy, and sustainable urban transport, tailored to Southeast Asia’s unique challenges.

Earn 30 Transferable Credit Points

Complete the program and earn 30 credit points that can be transferred to your home university, making your semester abroad count toward your degree.

Designed for Practical Learning and Exploration

The Southeast Asian Engineering Program spans 15 weeks, starting with a welcoming orientation to help you acclimate to the campus and Bali. Classes are held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, where you will engage in on-campus lectures covering essential engineering topics. Thursdays are dedicated to excursions, allowing you to experience real-world applications of your learning in Bali’s unique environment. Fridays are usually free for self-study or exploration.

In the middle of the program, there is a two-week semester break for students to explore Bali or neighboring islands, providing an opportunity for self-directed learning and cultural immersion. At the conclusion of the program, you will participate in a graduation ceremony where you will receive your certificates, celebrating your achievements and newfound knowledge.

Bachelor’s and Diploma Students in Engineering

Ideal for international students studying Civil Engineering, Building and Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Renewable Energies, Environmental Engineering, or related fields who want to explore the specific engineering demands of tropical regions.

Master’s Students and Recent Graduates

Also relevant for advanced students and recent graduates seeking to gain specialized knowledge in tropical engineering, sustainability, and renewable energies, equipping them with a globally relevant skill set.

Passionate Learners in Related Technical Fields

Students from related technical fields—such as Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or Architecture—who wish to gain practical, hands-on experience in addressing engineering challenges specific to Southeast Asia.

This course is primarily designed for students, and ideally, participants should have a minimum of one year’s experience in their field of study. However, we warmly welcome individuals who have a genuine interest in the topics covered, even if they do not have an academic background in engineering. If you’re passionate about the subject matter and eager to learn, you are invited to register for the course!

Modules

The Southeast Asian Engineering Program consists of 8 modules, providing a comprehensive curriculum tailored to the unique challenges of engineering in Southeast Asia.

Students will select 6 modules from the available options, allowing them to specialize in either Civil Engineering or Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Upon successful completion of their selected modules, participants can earn up to 30 ECTS credits, which reflect the workload of a full semester and can be transferred to most international credit systems.
